Tucker in Michigan Long Ago

Postby ehartman13 » Tue Apr 12, 2005 9:01 am

My wife has an older gentleman on her mail route that remembers a Tucker at both of these places and I wondered if anyone can shed some light on which ones they were and where they are now. I know I have heard about one of these before but without a search on the site I have found it impossible to locate the discussion so bear with me.
He states there was a Tucker in a building around 26 Mile Rd. and Van Dyke in Michigan (Shelby Township I believe) that was a museum of antique cars. He thinks it was called TAMAROWSKI'S and this was his collection. He believes it was blue and the building was open to the public on Sundays free of charge. He went there a few times in the 1970's and the building had closed after he died, and he wonders what ever became of this Tucker.
Also he talks about a showroom that was located in Detroit on Harper across from the Chandler Golf Course. He remembered it might have had the prototype in it at one time and sat in it as a child. When I asked Karen to ask him about it (the color) he remembers it as Maroon, which is not too far off the Blood Red color of the prototype as far as I am aware of. Can anyone either confirm or dismiss or correct these facts and fill in the holes? I would like to get a picture of them both for him.
Thanks for any and all help.

Temroski's Tucker (#1047)

Eric: I believe the blue Tucker car was Tucker #1047, then owned by Joseph Temroski and now owned by the Gilmore Museum. I am not aware of any of the original sale of cars going to Michigan. Therefore, I would guess that the maroon car might have been there on tour.
